It would be perfectly fine if the guys from the office decided, en masse, to go on some golf weekend on their own and pay for said weekend out of pocket. But as this is a work sponsored event, it absolutely does reflect an "our opinions outrank yours" mentality, and is not accounting for all workers - some simply are valued more than others or "tradition" outranks "progress."
